Disinfection of Medical Practice Furniture
Medical furniture – examination couches, chairs, treatment tables, desks – presents a significant risk of cross-contamination between patients. Micro-organisms deposited on the vinyl or imitation leather of the examination couch during a consultation can survive for several hours to several days and be transmitted to the next patient if effective disinfection is not carried out between each use.
Disinfection between patients
The systematic disinfection of the examination couch between each patient is a legal requirement and a recommendation of the CPIAS. It must be carried out using a disinfectant effective against resistant bacteria (VRE, MRSA), fungi, and both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses. Our disinfectant wipes and sprays for medical furniture are effective within 5 minutes of contact, allowing for quick cleaning between appointments without extending the time between patients.
Compatibility with medical furniture materials
The medical-grade vinyl on examination couches is sensitive to certain harsh disinfectants, which can dry it out, cause it to crack and lead to premature discolouration. Our furniture disinfectants are formulated without aldehydes and without high-concentration active chlorine compounds, ensuring antimicrobial efficacy that is compatible with the preservation of vinyl and faux leather upholstery throughout the furniture’s lifespan.
